Road trip #2 of the summer is well underway. We are about to leave Louisville for our friends in Memphis!
Actually, the place Buddy took us to feed the animals is called
Henry's Ark, but I like to think of all Louisville is part of Buddy's kingdom.
Anyway, our main activity on Tuesday was a visit to this extraordinary petting zoo. What a blast!
The kids were thrilled to be able to get SO close to some unusual animals.
 |
| I mean, unusual for them. |
 |
| Yes, they FED a zebra. |
 |
| The llamas were shy and retiring. |
 |
| Buddy feeds the ostrich. |
For some reason, feeding the ostrich was my favorite part. Their weird, reptilian eyes and quick darting snapping motion made it a lot like feeding a dinosaur. The kids thought so too, and both were a bit nervous about feeding them, but both did it, and BOTH were grinning after their food was snapped up.
 |
| Buddy says they have soulless eyes. |
Feeding the donkey was a more comfortable experience:
 |
| The emu was hilarious. Looked like he'd constantly just told a joke. |
Next, we had a picnic at a downtown park in Old Louisville.
Adele made a good friend in Uncle Buddy. He got a big hug before we left.
Oh, and bonus: it was a spray park!
 |
| My brother... a legend. |
The pictures of us didn't turn out bad, if you can ignore how the kids are tearing off my shirt :-(
Day 2 in Louisville included a special surprise from Grandpa Jim... to be continued.
