5 years ago, we moved into this apartment on Lee Street and decided, after a hard day of moving, to wander down to this street festival that seemed to be going on downtown.
This 2015 festival was our sixth and it is the most classic Blacksburg event of the year. There are a lot of townies that don't bother to attend; it seems to have become old hat to them. For me, the yearly festivals and town events only seem to gain meaning and importance.
We were not about to miss it.
We got photo-ed with some celebs:

We caught a concert by the amazing Kat Mills, a local singer/songwriter who attends our church!
There was one tent that made me feel a different sort of nostalgia... I felt myself back in Ciudad Guatemala as I browsed the Fair Trade Mayan Crafts tent:
Got myself a Quetzal to remember with.
The one with dreads is a fave of mine
The drama masks atop The Lyric Theater are my good friends.
Miles got himself a bow and arrows! Adele, a ping-pong ball gun. Yeep.
I always love watching people make their crafts outside, as with this many and his used-tire doormats.
Delicious local food as always...
Mr. Earley is a swell guy and makes really fun, quality and reasonably priced toys.
One favorite this year was discovering the music of Don Flemons, who calls himself The American Songster. He did a brilliant old-timey/folk show that won everyone over. Especially the kids, who kept up their up-front mosh pit for almost the duration:
Last week we met the teacher. Tomorrow, I go back to work. And Tuesday? This guy starts first grade.

I can't believe it either.
| Adele and I are jealous of his classroom library.
That's a wrap on summer. Whether we're ready or whether we're not, the Fall 2015 overture is playing. Places, everyone!
