Blessings

We've recently accomplished two of my humble dreams. One is to own our own bird feeder and be able to see actual birds as a result!

They finished that feeder full in one weekend. But it somehow helped make up for all the Halloweens that no one came trick or treating to our apartment. I know it's not exactly the same, but it Satisfied a Need :-)

Next, because we're now Episcopalian (or at least, attending an Episcopal Church), we get to celebrate the Blessing of the Animals!

Being that it was out in a more rural area than we've lived so far, I was hoping for some exotic farm type animals.

But it was nearly all dogs. And two very brave cats.

We read prayers and Psalms, and then each critter got a real live blessing from a member of the ordained clergy :-)

Miles was delighted to be there.

This pastor gives great sermons, too.

"Please, sir, can you bless my cats?"
Grendel and Dragon were NOT about to go in their boxes today. We received a proxy blessing for them :-)

On the way back, I got to check out a park I've been meaning to see.

Miles got a gated, safe place to run around and shout to his heart's content.

Mum, please, you're cramping my style!

  1. i love that you brought a picture of your cats!! there were a few brave cats at our service too (which was outside the chapel on campus). we saw many many lutheran churches in fact, having blessing of the animals services. maybe they've all been watching the Vicar of Dibley. (i forget, do you watch that show. you NEED to if you don't already!)
