Summer Starts Now

Daydreaming about Summer in Blacksburg....

I am sitting here with 50 minutes left of work for the school year and I thought I'd issue a press release.

Summer break for me begins tomorrow and ends August 10. Starting tomorrow I will:
  • Get to eat a real breakfast, with my kids, and not munch a burnt toaster pastry at my desk.
  • Get to be the one to take the kids to the library, the park, the nature center, or whereever else the universe instructs us to go.
  • Not have to hear Miles tell me to stay in the morning, or watch him waving at me mournfully from the living room window.
  • Not have to know that my family is only blocks away from me and be unable to join them
  • No longer have to use, clean or sterilize my Medela PIS (HALLELUJAH).
(By the way: we are making a NY trip in late June/early July and a MD trip in late July. Perhaps I will be so fortunate as to see some of my readers!)

On the other hand, starting tomorrow I will
  • be in charge of ALL THE naptimes (HALP!!)
  •  be cleaning pretty much whenever I'm not parenting.
  • Have plenty of photo ops and probably a lot fewer opportunities to post photos.
    • Or read blogs
    • Or update my status
    • Or watch The Daily Show
    • Or eat junk food
    • Or write blog entries, for that matter.
Tomorrow I stop planning summer, making lists for summer, obsessing over summer baby carriers, pinning summer ideas on Pinterest (yes, I have joined the cult. Not that I think I'll be a very active member after tomorrow).

Tomorrow I start living summer. I'm not sure if I more want congratulations or prayers for strength!
(Both)

Let's go!
