From moving week

Between Sunday, June 30 and Thursday, July 5, Jon and I did NOTHING but move. From our sweet but inadequate apartment on Lee Street we have moved to a little apartment in University City that I'm calling Crickhollow. If you catch the reference to the Lord of the Rings, we are probably special friends and I need say no more. However: I am calling the lovely, shiny, clean, but still small apartment we've just begun to occupy, "Crickhollow" because it is sweet, is is nice, and I don't plan to stay. We may end up here for up to two years, but it is my great hope that we'll settle next into something more like a home for our lively family.

Moving was enormously hard. It was truly one of the most fatiguing weeks I've had in several years. Jon and I had some help and a truck to move the furniture (without which we would surely still be on Lee Street, cursing), but other than that, after noon on Monday we were on our own. What an opportunity to discover the true strength of our marriage!

It is done, however, and we left it liveable, if rather full of boxes. As of July 5, we have been living elsewhere! More on that to come.

For now, enjoy a couple of shots from our last week in Blacksburg. Both kids found adventuresome ways to fall asleep on our last couple nights on Lee Street:
Dino mask at the ready!

Practicing sleep-based martial arts.

We spent July 4th in Blacksburg for the first time. Here is Adele in her festive garments! They showed An American Tail at the Lyric Theater.
Later that night, Miles and I climbed a hill together and watched the town fireworks, in a very fond farewell to Lee Street, and, for a time, to Blacksburg.

Off we went the very next day!
