Coloring College Ave

I believe that Santa Claus secretly runs this town.

Not because it's some kind of endlessly festive, jingly, be-tinsled Christmastown with fake snow (what a ghastly thought!?), but because I think someone who loves children and has an endless imagination full of jolly ideas about how to please and inspire them is working tirelessly and for no personal gain at all.

Could also be Leslie Knope.

Anyway, two weeks ago was Wheels and Wagons, which occurred in the Space Between Cameras. So no documentation, just happy memories. This week, we Colored College Avenue!

Basically, this street is going to be torn up and re-done as a one-way avenue with extended sidewalks. Which seems to better fit the purpose to which it is usually put. But instead of just saying, "hey everyone, FYI, we're doing construction in August. So watch for that!" the town put on a paint-the-road party. They gave out free latex paint in cups and we literally painted the town.

Some groups, like elementary schools, laid claim to a square and did an organized design.
Most of us were free-lancers.
Miles and Papa got right to work, while Adele and Mum took a walk. He started out with a neon, then got a blue refill, and by the time he was done his paint had become kind of a pale goldenrod.
"I am fingerpainting the road!!! Life does NOT get better than this!!"
My growing boy. Prints of a boy who can now reach the bathroom tap, light switches, etc.
It might as well have been Hollywood.

He feels his fame will last through all ages, much like Ozymandias.

It will! At least until August.

This is one he particularly admired. Just his style.

I enjoyed the superworm.

Too small to paint. NOT too small to be a reigning queen. A very chic accessory. Everyone should have one.
Please try to ignore the girl who is in an unflattering bend here, and focus on the fact that we were enjoying a concert by young strings musicians!! (Does it get more wholesome than this day?)

A final antic from Mr. Silly. At noon we simply had to get home before were tempted to set up a shelter and live right here on the street.

Next up? We're planning on a softball game tonight! Go Episcopalians!
